I cannot stress enough my gratitude for the subsidised theatre The Cockpit in Marylebone, which rescued me from a dead end life. I know that I am one of many, now professional, actors who used their funded facilities and benefitted from their expert staff's skills and advice. What a pity to rob the next generation of artists of such an opportunity, and what a shame it would be if we were robbed of great artists of the future through a misguided concept that Art is one of life's luxuries.
